Pioneer Stories: The First Missionaries

I want to tell the children of the Adventist pioneers about this movement and why we should continue it. By Arthur W. Spalding. Read by Aunt Maria

Chapter 10

It is good when children know what their fathers and mothers have done. Because sometimes they are an important role model for their children. Especially when the children are supposed to finish the work their parents started. For this reason I have written this book. I want to tell the children of the Adventist pioneers about this movement and why we should continue it. When the Advent message began, there were few signs that the world was coming to an end. Today the evidence for this has multiplied thousands of times. Jesus' promise to return was always a sign of hope for his followers. The darker the world got, the brighter the light. Those who love the Lord will be on the lookout for the signs that herald his coming. Those signs are piling up fast. We don't have to wait much longer. The pioneers walked an arduous path. They have fallen asleep and their mission has become ours. Today, not only the adults, but also the children are allowed to complete this work, to finish the journey to the city of God. May these stories of the pioneers in this great Advent movement inspire many children and young people to continue where their fathers paved the way so that the kingdom of Jesus may soon dawn.
