Dear Friends,

maybe you've heard of our little mission service in the heart of West Africa. It arose providentially in the life of a young man. He was trained in Germany in missionary health work in order to serve people like Jesus. This young man lost his home in a devastating fire in 2011. When he asked the Lord to show him why this was happening, the answer was, "Don't cling to the ephemeral things this world has to offer. Lay everything on the altar and dare to go where God will call you.' After a few days of prayer, the call was evident: go to Nigeria, in the 'giants of Africa', and train missionaries. Around 200 million people with around 200 languages live here.

April 2023. The refreshing spring has only just begun in the tropical south-west of Nigeria. The rain has returned with its powerful, invigorating power and nature has once again dressed in a fresher green. The long-awaited mangoes will be ready in about two weeks. They remind us of the Scriptures in James 5,7:XNUMX: "Therefore wait patiently until the coming of the LORD. Behold, the farmer waits patiently for the precious fruit of the earth, until it receives the early rain and the latter rain.' Do we eagerly await the precious fruit that is about to ripen: the coming of the LORD? Are we eager to experience the full effect of the early rain and the latter rain? Do we wait for the harvest with patience and perseverance?

When we arrived at the Ile-Ife Adventist Hospital in Lagos in mid-2011, our task was clear: together with a team of other missionaries, several groups of missionary health workers were trained in less than 3 years. Some staff stayed at the local hospital to introduce God's natural plan of healing to the patients there. Others have been sent to rural regions or even beyond Nigeria's borders.

At this point we felt a growing desire to base the work even more firmly on the counsel of the Spirit of Prophecy. For a few years we prayed for a piece of land outside of the city. Through our help in the towns and villages, we came into contact with a very ill, influential traditional tribal leader. We took care of his physical needs for over a year. He expressed a desire to host us permanently in his area and said he would help us find a suitable property to purchase. In this way we received 4 hectares of land for buildings and orchards and another 4 hectares of good arable land. In order to be able to build, we took donations, even if it was only 2 euros, and faithfully used them to buy building materials.

So since 2016 we have been busy building our missionary training school with a home-size sanatorium here in Osun State, Nigeria. In the last two years we have been able to erect the walls, cover the roof of the entire building, carry out the first phase of the electrical installation and plumbing work and plaster the interior walls. This year we were able to install the windows and also make a good start with the outer wall facade. We are grateful to all of our donors and to the Lord that we have been able to come this far. The two completed dormitories are fully occupied and we can't wait for the sanatorium to be completed.

Now we hope that we can focus on the interior: fixing the door frames, floor tiles, bathrooms, second phase of electrical installation, painting and finally furnishing the kitchen and other rooms. We will need around EUR 6.000 to buy the materials for the work mentioned. As there is no cheap second hand furniture in Nigeria, we plan to make our furniture ourselves. We have already done the same for our dormitories, with great success.

I believe the Lord is holding back the tide of health guests requiring our services at this time as we are currently only able to accommodate two clients at a time in one of our residences. We are looking forward to the time when we can offer help on a larger scale.

Earlier this year, God opened another door for us to begin a humble ministry in Lagos, Africa's second largest city. About 20 million people live in Lagos, ie 10% of the Nigerian population: Muslims, Christians or people of other religions. Here one of our parishioners founded a wellness center with a vegan restaurant. Unfortunately, the sister could not find well-trained, dedicated Adventist staff. So she hired six non-Adventist workers, but found that, unfortunately, she could not achieve her vision. God has providentially connected us to her and we want to work together to make that happen Totu's Cura Centre to make it a success for the Lord. People can eat our healthy food in Lagos and on this way to our state sanatorium in Elim Lands find. What a blessing!

We hope and pray that many more brothers and sisters will be prepared to serve the people to hasten the coming of the LORD.

Bless you Dorcas, Edvin and Vojta Ligenza
