I know that people suffer a lot because they leave the path that God has chosen for them. They run into the flaming arrows of the fire they themselves kindled (Isaiah 50,11:XNUMX). Suffering, excitement and heartache are the consequences that could have been avoided had they allowed themselves to be led and directed by God.

God knows: Only if he thwarts our will and our plans so that we accept his guidance can he turn the emergency around. Whatever course God chooses for us, whatever path He intends for our feet, it is the only safe path.

Like a child, we can trust and pray daily that our eyes will be treated with heavenly ointment so that we can see the clues to God's will. Otherwise, we get confused by our own ideas because our ideas seem to want to dominate everything.

With the eye of faith, with childlike devotion, we can cling to God with our eyes like children and follow his guidance – then difficulties will be resolved. The promise is: »I will instruct you and show you the way to go, I will guide you with my eyes.« (Psalm 32,8:XNUMX)

The LORD has promised that he will give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him. Do we want to take God at his word? When we come to Him humbly and willingly to learn, without having already planned everything to our liking; if we sincerely desire instruction, trust in him, and show sincere willingness, then we can confidently appeal to that promise every hour of the day.

We may distrust ourselves, and it is imperative that we be cautious of our inclinations and strong preferences, lest we follow our ideas and plans and then think they are the way of the Lord. On the other hand, we prefer not to distrust the word of promise once.
