I saw God send his angel to move the heart of a farmer who had not believed the Bible. Stimulated him to study the prophecies.

Again and again angels of God visited the chosen one, directing his thoughts and opening his eyes to the prophecies that had remained dark for God's people. The beginning of the chain of truth was revealed to him, and he let him search one link after the other until he could no longer stop being amazed at the word of God.

After all, he had before his eyes an impeccable chain of truth. The Word that he had thought uninspired now opened before him in glorious beauty. He saw that one section of Scripture explained the other, and when he did not understand one section, he found the key to understanding in another section of the Word. Now he brought joy and the deepest respect and reverence for the holy Word of God.

As he worked his way through the prophecies, he realized without realizing that the earthlings were in the final stages of world history. He saw the decay of the churches, that their love was no longer for Jesus but for the world and that they sought worldly honor instead of the honor that comes from above. They sought worldly riches instead of finding a treasure in heaven. Hypocrisy, darkness and death were seen everywhere. All of this stirred up his heart.

Called like Elisha and John the Baptist

God called him from his farm as he called Elisha from his oxen and his field to follow Elijah. William Miller timidly began to open up the mysteries of the kingdom of God to people. With each use, his strength grew. He led the people through the prophecies up to Jesus' return. Just as John the Baptist announced the first coming of Jesus and prepared the way for him, so William Miller and all who followed him proclaimed the second coming of the Son of God.

The reason for his appointment

I was taken back to the time of the disciples and saw beloved John, whom God had given a special work to do. Determined to prevent this work, Satan moved his servants to destroy John. But God sent his angel and miraculously preserved him. All who witnessed God's great power in delivering John marveled, and many were convinced that God was with him and that his testimony of Jesus was true. Those who wanted to destroy him now feared to touch his life. So he was allowed to continue suffering for Jesus. Because of false accusations from his enemies, he was summarily banished to a desert island.

A revelation until the end of time

Thither the Lord sent his angel to reveal to him things that would take place on earth. He showed him the condition of the church until the end of time. John saw their backward steps and what place the church would have to take if they wanted to please God and ultimately become an overcomer.

The angel came down from heaven to John in a majestic appearance. His face shone with the surpassing splendor of heaven. He gave Johannes deep and moving insights into the fortunes of the Church of God and showed him the dangerous struggles that she would have to endure. John saw them going through fiery trials, he saw the overcomers eventually being saved white and purified, victorious and glorious for God's kingdom.

Reason for boundless enthusiasm

The angel's face shone with joy and shone beyond description as he showed John the final triumph of the church of God. John was thrilled when he saw the church's final deliverance. Awed by the sight, he fell at the angel's feet in deep awe and awe to worship him. The angel straightened him up and gently rebuked him, saying, "See, don't do it! I am your fellow servant and of your brethren who have the testimony of Jesus. Worship God! For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.« (Revelation 19,10:XNUMX)

Then the angel showed John the heavenly city in all its splendor and dazzling glory. Johannes was intoxicated and overwhelmed by the beauty of the city. Forgetting the angel's rebuke, he fell at his feet a second time. Again he rebuked him gently: 'See, don't do it! I am your fellow servant and that of your brothers the prophets and those who keep the words of this book. Worship God!” (Revelation 22,6:XNUMX)

The book for our time!

Ministers and congregation have viewed the book of Revelation as an enigmatic and minor book in Scripture. But I saw that this book is indeed a revelation meant to be a blessing especially to those living in the last days. It wants to guide them to discover their true position and purpose. God directed William Miller's mind as he studied these prophecies and gave him great light on this book.

Daniel: the key to understanding

If Daniel's visions had been understood, the church could have better understood John's visions. But at the right time, God moved His chosen servant to unlock the prophecies with clarity and in the power of the Holy Spirit. He showed how the visions of Daniel and John harmonize with each other and with other Bible passages.

Revival through bold proclamation

He struck the hearts of the people with the holy and terrifying warnings of the Word to prepare them for the coming of the Son of man. A deep and serious conviction took possession of those who heard him. Clergymen, as well as common people, sinners, and unbelievers turned to the Lord that they might be prepared to stand in judgment.

God's angels accompanied William Miller on his mission. He was steadfast and was not shaken by anything. He fearlessly proclaimed the message entrusted to him. That the world lay in wickedness and that the church was cold and worldly was enough to awaken his energies and make him willingly endure toil, deprivation, and suffering. Though professing Christians and the world were against him, though Satan and his angels harassed him, he continued to preach the everlasting gospel to the multitudes wherever he was invited, and let the cry rise: 'Fear God and give him glory, for the hour His judgment has come." (Revelation 14,6:XNUMX)
