Esotericism, Occultism, Spiritualism, and Magic from the Bible’s Perspective
Host: Dear listeners, we’ve arranged an interview for you with a woman who has gone through difficulties and changes. Just as almost all of us go through the ups and downs of human existence: joys and triumphs, but also the depths and pitfalls of life as a professional musician, a singer in a successful band.However, she has also had interesting experiences in a world completely different from the one we normally see with our own eyes, and she would like to share them with you—with the hope of helping those who are interested in understanding this dark world.
A Musical Journey
Narrator: I hope you have a wonderful day. I’d like to introduce myself in a little more detail. I was born in Northern Bohemia, and shortly after graduating from middle school, I received an offer from a West Bohemian music group to work both abroad and in the Czech Republic. That’s how my sixteen-year career in an orchestra began, where I was able to fully pursue my passion for music, dance, and theater at the time. This work also involved traveling to a significant part of the world—something that was nearly impossible under the former political regime and not accessible to everyone. That sounds great, doesn’t it? In the public eye, I was socially successful. But there’s a big “but” that I’d like to come back to later.
Host: So what specific achievements have you had in your professional musical career?
Narrator: Well, I’d also like to mention my nearly one-year stint at a local radio station, which took place while I was performing with the band. There, I was able to invite prominent figures from our region, including doctors and others, as well as representatives from the city government. The station’s management suggested that I educate the listeners a bit—which, if I may say so, was already my area of expertise back then. The listeners’ reactions to these broadcasts were very positive at the time. We even received letters at the editorial office, including some from people in the correctional system. With their permission, I quoted parts of these letters on the program, in which they described how they had reevaluated their lives so far because they believed in God. I think that this could have been helpful for both sides—for people on the outside and for those behind prison walls. But I had no idea at all that God’s training, guidance, and preparation for what I do today—with great love and gratitude—had already begun there, and even long before that. As for the course of my musical career, I received offers from well-known Prague orchestras and also from individual famous personalities. Because of my husband—who was still my fiancé at the time but did not want to move to Prague—I turned down all the offers and stayed with my original band. I’ve known for a long time that this was a very wise decision back then, and I believe that God guided this as well, as you will understand from the following story. But it must also be said: Although I am grateful to God for everything, and despite all the respect I have for those who have achieved something in this artistic field, my past successes in this sphere are of almost no value to me today. They are merely memories.
The Big “But” Behind the Career
Host: However, you also mentioned a certain “but” in relation to your career. What exactly do you mean by that?
Narrator: Surely almost all of you have heard about the temptations that the world of fame, the spotlight, the stage, and so-called nightlife can bring.It’s a kind of freedom that only appears to be so on the surface, but can later entangle people in various dependencies from which they must then struggle to free themselves. To be fair, though, I must say that not every artist lives that way. I don’t want to do anyone an injustice or hurt anyone’s feelings, but for me personally, it was a huge relief when I was able to leave that world behind—if I may say so—victorious—and move on to something that is much more valuable to me.So I hope you don’t mind if I summarize this chapter of my life in such general terms, because today we have much more interesting topics to discuss. And ultimately, thanks to God, I’m able to lead a fulfilling and joyful life of faith, with my own family, many friends, very different values, and a life’s mission that consists of helping others.
A Personal Relationship with God
Host: What do you mean by that?
Narrator: You’ve probably noticed that I’ve mentioned God several times already today. When a person is allowed to get to know God as the Bible describes Him, and when they realize that this description matches what they are able to experience with God in their daily lives, through their experiences, and even through miracles—when a person allows God to enter their life—then everything changes. Truly everything. I am convinced and know that it changes for the better—into something much better. If we are willing, God becomes our greatest help in everything, right here on this earth. That is why I consider the greatest success of my life today to be that I am able to have a beautiful, loving, personal relationship with God.
Host: What does it mean to have a personal relationship with someone who is invisible and untouchable?
Narrator: That means I can speak freely with God every day—and really, at any time—talk to Him in my prayers, and invite Him into my innermost being, into my heart, if you will. But each of us can do that. And God speaks to me, to us, through the texts of the Bible, and sometimes also in our thoughts—for example, through our conscience. So God speaks through the Bible, and I—or rather, we—speak to Him in prayer. This is actually a dialogue, an invisible but tangible encounter in which we are in God’s presence. This is also true whenever we talk to someone about God. And, by the way, I believe that God is with us even now, at this very moment as I’m telling this story.
The Search for God
Host: You said you have a family of your own. Did your faith come into your life later on?
Narrator: What’s special is this: I began to seek God in a clumsy way, precisely because I already believed back then. Probably thanks to my mother, who was a believer. I hoped that God was the only one who could, so to speak, bring children into a person’s life, and I longed very much for children. So I tried, somewhat awkwardly, to make contact with God.
Host: I see. And what did you do about it?
Narrator: I went to see a pastor, but it was complicated there. I didn’t understand anything, and certainly not the Bible. So I kept looking until I came across a woman, and I believe God put her in my path—just as He has with everything else in my life. This woman wisely advised me to start reading the Bible again, to pray—and to pray for understanding. She also offered to help me understand the Bible. Then I received an invitation to join a Christian fellowship, and after some time, I made my completely free decision to be baptized. Out of deep gratitude, I longed to publicly profess my faith in God and surrender my life to Him. Adult baptism is actually a beautiful celebration—a wedding to the Most High.
Host: So, a religious community.
Narrator: Yes, but first, the two children we had prayed for were born, even though it had seemed as though we wouldn’t have any. That made me even more grateful to God—and also to this faith community, this large and loving group of like-minded people. It was like a family where our sons could grow up.
Family, Service, and Bible Study
Host: So what are you actually doing today?
Narrator: Your question reminds me of the second-greatest earthly blessing of my life: that I was able to meet my husband. Again, I believe, as a gift of love from God. We’ve been together for more than four decades and have been blessed to start a family together. After coming to know God, that meant absolutely everything to me. Because not everyone succeeds at that today—especially in this artistic field—on the very first try. So I ended my career as a professional singer with great happiness and began to devote myself to my family and children. Today, our sons are almost grown, though thankfully they often come back home. But even while they were growing up, I began working with people and for people. Of course, I did so in a way that didn’t deprive the children of my love, my presence, or my guidance. Today, I occasionally—in a way that’s appropriate and simply unobtrusive—offer health-related as well as spiritual literature to people whom I believe God is placing in my path: teachers, doctors, saleswomen, tradespeople—simply wherever my duties and the demands of daily family life take me. This leads to new acquaintances, and later friendships, as well as people’s interest in spiritual matters. They sense that this unpaid service is meant to help them selflessly and without ulterior motives. To everyone without distinction—simply anyone who is interested. For in these books, especially in Bibles, there is valuable advice and help for every situation in life. I also visit individuals or families for Bible study. My husband and I help people who are socially disadvantaged. In addition, we organize public book giveaways for passersby on the street. We call it the “little table,” where people can choose books for free. Or we also offer free books in stores, businesses, and at similar events. Of course, there are many more volunteers like this. In fact, they’re all over the world. I’m by no means the only one.
Changes Brought About by God’s Work
Host: Do you think that this kind of work can influence the general public?
Narrator: I wouldn’t presume to judge whether it influences the general public, but in the twenty years I’ve spent serving people—those I’ve met and continue to meet—truly great and joyful changes have taken place in their lives and are still taking place. I am certain that these changes came about through God’s work and also through the insights they have gained—primarily through studying the Bible, but also through other literature. Many have gradually and willingly surrendered their lives to God through baptism and continue on their journey with Him by helping others just as they themselves were helped. My husband has been part of this for quite some time now. Believe me, it is a wonderful endeavor that fills a person’s heart when you see these positive changes in others. Thank God for that. But believe me, this work also has its pitfalls—its very dark and even dangerous sides.
Esotericism, Occultism, Magic, and Spiritualism
Host: Working for God and dark sides? How are we supposed to understand that?
Narrator: I am not speaking here of heartless rejections born of ignorance, because God has been portrayed to humanity as evil, false, and distorted with the most despicable intent. Out of fear of faith and religion, such people either did not accept this offer or later refused to give up things and activities that, in my conviction, only harmed them. I would now like to speak of a much more serious spiritual condition that people were in when we first met. I actually told you my life story only so that you might get to know me a little better and understand the broader context of my story today on a very serious and extraordinarily important topic. So that you may believe that I am speaking from my own experience about something that is very relevant today: the subject of esotericism, occultism, magic, and spiritualism. Just briefly, for those who have not yet encountered these phenomena: The areas mentioned constitute a body of mystical practices, including, for example, what appear to be healing practices and teachings. These include supernatural phenomena, extrasensory and secret powers that cannot be explained by conventional science. I recommend looking up these terms and their meanings in an encyclopedia or online. The main goal of the creators of this video—and, of course, my own goal as well—is above all to help and advise people who find themselves in strange circumstances, caught in the grip of something seemingly mysterious, unknown, malevolent, and dark—and who do not understand why this is happening, what or who is involved, how it came to be, and, above all, what can be done about it and how to escape it.
Host: That really sounds creepy.
Narrator: Yes, now we’re finally getting to the part of our conversation about a topic that’s actually foreign to me. I, too, didn’t understand the Bible at first and therefore unwittingly and unintentionally found myself drawn into the dark world of esotericism. I sought help and thought I was seeking it from God. But after some strange and inexplicable events in our home and in our lives—and after I had begun studying the Bible and other literature with the help of a devout friend—I realized with horror that I had been looking in a completely wrong and opposite place.
What Might Lie Behind Occult Practices
Host: I see. And what did you do with it?
Narrator: Surprisingly, despite the consequences, damage, and injuries, it was a great learning experience for me. After I was led out of that period—which, thank God, didn’t last long—I began to truly and earnestly investigate and study who or what was behind this strange and dangerous realm, and indeed, behind this power. And once I had come to understand a great deal, I began to offer advice and help to others who had been affected in a similar way, if I may put it that way. I realized that all esoteric and occult practices seem to work temporarily, but at the same time I was horrified because it is not God who stands behind all of this, but another, very evil spiritual being. A being who once bore the beautiful name “Light-Bearer”—translated as Lucifer—and who corrupted himself out of envy. Even in ancient times, it cunningly attempted to take God’s holy place in the heavens, but after much persuasion by God and the unfallen angels, it—along with one-third of the angels it had seduced—had to be banished from that holy place. Many people believe in the existence of God, but not all believe that this darkness—this enemy of God and humanity—descended to this earth along with a host of these fallen angels, now known as demons. By controlling certain people, they may even be responsible for all the misery and suffering in the world. In my experience, it is very dangerous not to believe that this fallen and wicked being and his demonic helpers exist, are at work, and feverishly seduce people through invisible influence, leading them away from the light of God and toward salvation into darkness and ruin. Out of hatred for God and humanity—because this hidden enemy, known as Satan, failed in the heavens—he now attempts to carry out his evil plans here on earth. We humans on this earth are actually living in a war between good and evil, between God, who wants to save us, and Satan.
The Great Battle Between Good and Evil
Narrator: You can read much, much more in the book by Ellen G. White, in which she faithfully describes this great spiritual conflict in accordance with Scripture. This work is titled *The Great Controversy* or *From Shadow to Light* and is available free of charge in up to one hundred twenty-five languages around the world. Among other things, it includes chapters titled “The Origin of Evil ” and “Man’s Worst Enemy.” Also: “Can We Talk to the Dead?” and “The Secret of Immortality.” Other chapters include: “Who Are the Angels?”, as well as “God’s People Set Free” and “The Victory of God’s Love.” There we learn that God is victorious over evil and always will be, and that He offers this victory to humanity as well. Therefore, we need not fear if we profess our faith in God and hold fast to Him.
Denn Gott sagte: „Wenn du mich liebst, gebe ich dir auch Liebe zu anderen Menschen, damit du ihnen das tust, was du möchtest, dass sie dir tun.“ Kurz gesagt: Liebe tut dem Nächsten nichts Böses.
This is God’s principle of His infinite love. We find this passage in the Bible, in the New Testament, in the Gospel of Matthew, chapter 22, verse 34. Believe me, I don’t want to scare anyone, and that’s not my style either. My most sincere desire—and indeed my joy—is to praise, reassure, encourage, and comfort others for good reason. If we hold fast to God’s principles—or better yet, to God Himself—then, as I’ve already said, we have nothing to fear.
Why People Look for Help in the Wrong Places
Host: You mentioned the serious mental state of the people you may have met for the first time. What exactly is that about?
Narrator: They were often very friendly and kind people—at least as I came to know them—who were simply trying to live a good life. They sought help when they were sick or facing other difficult situations in life. They sought it in various places, just as I once did unwittingly, but they fell into a web of various practices that appeared on the surface to be help or healing, yet beneath the surface were a hidden trap. For example: Why doesn’t God want us to know our future? I believe that, out of mercy, we do not need to know in advance all the difficult things that lie ahead of us and thus torment ourselves for years—sometimes almost an entire lifetime—in advance. Therefore, all practices that predict the future are not from God. In Scripture, we even read a stern warning against this curious activity. Another example: God, who according to Scripture is the sole Giver of life, clearly states in the Bible that we have only one life on this earth. After that—following the resurrection and the return of Jesus Christ to this earth—Scripture speaks either of eternal life with God or of the final end of humanity. It is the free choice of each one of us. Whether it is the belief in being reborn again and again—perhaps even in different bodies, or even in the bodies of animals—or the belief in a so-called afterlife: God strongly warns against these things.
The Bible as a Guide
Host: And what if I don’t believe in the existence of God or in the Bible and what’s written in it?
Narrator: I always ask people: What is the oldest book in the world? And how is it possible that it hasn’t been burned or destroyed in nearly two thousand years? Yes, I firmly believe that God preserves His Bible, because it is our only guide that shows us the path to heaven. It is a book that quite simply takes God’s existence for granted. I always tell people when I meet them: Everyone should read the Bible with humility toward this book, and only then—but now informed—can each person decide, so that they actually know what or whom they are rejecting or rejecting, and what tremendous help and joy they are depriving themselves of, based on my thirty-five years of life experience. And let’s look at nature—yes, and at human beings. It is simply impossible that such perfect harmonies and immense complexity could have arisen and functioned by chance on their own. Some scientists today compare even a single cell to the complexity and functioning of a huge metropolis. And according to the latest research, the human body has thirty to forty trillion cells. Can we believe that any kind of coincidence is possible here? Or does everything function under the loving hand of an almighty Creator and Sustainer of life? Please let’s think about this. Believe me, throughout my life of faith, I have experienced many times that God never leaves anyone without an answer who sincerely seeks Him, wants to know the truth, and asks for it. Never.
Die Bibel sagt in Psalm 95, Verse 7 bis 8: „Wenn ihr heute seine, Gottes Stimme hört, verhärtet eure Herzen nicht.“
How to Recognize Spiritual Burdens
Host: That sounds like a great offer. But let’s get back to those who are facing various difficulties. How do these people realize that a dark force has entered their lives—one they neither invited nor wanted? Or did they invite it? Various and very unpleasant things happen to them in life. For example, they’re sick for very long periods and very often. Of course, this doesn’t apply to everyone who’s sick.
Narrator: In layman’s terms, you could say that their house is starting to be haunted. Appliances break down in the apartment, they see dead people, objects move on their own, they feel as if they’re being choked or have the urge to jump out the window. They may also hear voices. There really are many—very many—such supernatural phenomena. Often, it’s impossible to live with them at all.
Host: Do these dark forces always manifest themselves in this way?
Narrator: Sometimes they seem hidden. For example, when we believe in false teachings such as reincarnation, the transmigration of souls, the immortality of the soul, the existence of UFOs, or when we pray to angels. And to which ones, exactly, when there are also fallen angels? This is a very dangerous situation. They can lead to various forms of dependency or an aversion to reading the Bible, praying, and talking to God. They invisibly lead us away from our relationship with Him. And what is almost incomprehensible is that this also happens to people in churches who neglect Bible study or are not interested in such insights. So we must learn to discern who is behind each event: God or the other. As I said before, Scripture teaches us to distinguish between good and evil. It is the only source of truth and spiritual nourishment, without which we wither away inwardly day by day. Let us not neglect its study.
How People Can Open Occult Doors
Host: And how do these forces suddenly enter a person’s life?
Narrator: One could say, as I’ve already hinted, that it was out of ignorance—in a sense, due to our unintentional invitation. But before I begin to answer the question, I’d like to ask you to pay close attention. Regarding what I am about to describe, I think it’s very important to preface this by saying: Nothing I am about to say is intended to belittle anyone or speak of them with contempt. Every person was created by God as a human being to live a dignified and good life—whether we believe it or not—and is loved immeasurably by God. Everyone, even those who seem most insignificant from this world’s perspective, has immense value in God’s eyes. However, it is our evil deeds and actions that separate us from God, degrade us, and can lead us into bad—even critical—situations. But even then, God longs to save absolutely every human being, if they so desire and if they allow Him to do so. I will now describe and warn you about how and when we can come into contact with this invisible power: through people who serve it, are used by this entity, and whose activities are often their source of income. These include fortune-tellers, so-called soothsayers, as well as practitioners of witchcraft, palm readers, and various healers. Added to this are reading horoscopes—that is, engaging in astrology and numerology—as well as watching inappropriate television programs, horror movies, pornography, violent shows, and the like. Even the so-called summoning of spirits, even if it’s supposedly just for fun, is in itself an invitation. A large part of today’s music, art, superstition, graphology, as well as the veneration of and prayers to the deceased—for example, to so-called saints—also fall into this category. For they cannot hear us. They sleep in the grave, as the Creator says in Scripture.
Prediger 9,5: „Denn die Lebenden wissen, dass sie sterben werden. Die Toten aber wissen gar nichts.“
Any kind of magic, the use of intoxicating or addictive substances, and even objects we may unknowingly have at home—statues, pictures, occult literature, inscriptions on clothing—can be problematic. But please believe me when I say that I don’t want to scare you. The goal of this video is exactly the opposite: to give you joyful hope for the future if you decide to remove these practices from your life. For God is the most powerful of all people and all things, and He loves humanity deeply. He wants to protect and save us. So there is a way out, and God longs for you to live joyfully and freely. Please believe me when I say this.
Alternative Practices from a Biblical Perspective
Host: How can you be sure which so-called “force” is involved?
Narrator: The forces of darkness operate in mystery. For example: How is it that traditional Chinese medicine, acupuncture, and acupressure all seem to work? What exactly are these mysterious points on and within the human body? Or Ayurveda, Reiki, Tai Chi, and other so-called practices that work with so-called chakras and originate from Indian spiritual traditions? This also includes yoga, which is so popular with the general public and presents itself as a form of exercise. But beware: Yoga, too, is part of a spiritual movement that is directly opposed to Christianity. In some yoga exercises, people bow down to the sun. It involves breathing techniques and the connection of the universal self with the unconscious. My most negative experiences are associated with yoga. Then there is kinesiology. This involves working with so-called past lives, which we Christians—as it is written in the Bible—believe do not exist. I have also had personal, very negative, and intense experiences with this. In addition, there is mesmerism, healing with magnets, homeopathy, pendulum dowsing, dowsing with rods, hypnosis, autogenic training, belief in the healing power of stones, and many other practices. So I ask: On what mysterious basis do these practices actually work? And where is the real medical evidence?
1. Korinther 6,12: „Alles ist mir erlaubt, aber nicht alles dient zum Guten. Alles ist mir erlaubt, aber nichts soll Macht über mich haben.“
Out of love, God gives us good things for free: love for Him, for our neighbor, and for ourselves; friendship; children; nature; and so many wonderful things. This fallen being, however, always demands a kind of “copyright tax” for the use of things that come, so to speak, from its workshop. And it refuses to let go of a person who is trapped in this way. It fights for him.
What can be done about it?
Host: So what can we actually do about it?
Narrator: Let’s talk about all of this with God in prayer. For faith is nothing other than a loving relationship with God and obedience to His commandments. Let’s read the Bible. If we’re beginners, it’s recommended that we do this with the help of someone who is a sincere Christian, knows the Bible well, understands it, and can help us study it. The Bible describes some of these phenomena and warns against them. God and His intentions for each of us are only the best—understandable and clearly discernible. God also recommends a healthy diet—preferably plant-based—regular exercise, sports, walking, drinking enough fluids, getting plenty of fresh air, enjoying sunlight in moderation, positive thinking, faith (ideally), and getting good, sufficient sleep and rest—at least one full day a week.
Exodus 20,8: „Gedenke des Sabbatages, dass du ihn heiligst.“
In the New Testament of the Bible, we read that only God’s power in Jesus Christ can cast out demons from a person’s life and from anywhere, and command them. The enemy of God and of mankind—that fallen angel—is merely a created being. Therefore, I ask: Who is more powerful? God or this enemy? The answer is clear and biblical: the uncreated and eternal God.
Johannes 3,16: „Denn so sehr hat Gott die Welt geliebt, dass er seinen eingeborenen Sohn gab, damit jeder, der an ihn glaubt, nicht verloren geht, sondern ewiges Leben hat.“
The Path to Salvation Through Jesus Christ
So let us cling to the almighty God. Let us abandon these practices, throw out of our homes anything that might serve as an invitation, and ask the Lord Jesus Christ for help, for He paid the ransom for us with His blood on the cross. Let us therefore confess to Him that we gratefully accept His sacrifice, and let us annul all previous agreements—who knows with whom—even if they were unintentional. Ask fellow believers or experienced, sincere Christians to pray with you—perhaps repeatedly at the very place where these unpleasant occurrences take place. Believe that this works wonders, even if it can sometimes take a while. But persevere. God is and always will be the victor. With my own eyes, I have seen and experienced that dozens of people who faced truly great and varied difficulties with these fallen powers nevertheless live today with a sense of fulfillment, joy, and freedom. They believed that Jesus Christ was born and lived on this earth to free us from our sins and to grant us His righteousness and eternal life. They repented. And I would like to emphasize this, because it is a very important part of deliverance: repentance. This means confessing before God, with shame and remorse, that we have done this or that evil in our lives, and asking God for forgiveness.

Jeremia 29,11: „Denn ich weiß, was ich mit euch vorhabe, spricht der Herr: Gedanken des Friedens und nicht des Unheils. Ich will euch Zukunft und Hoffnung geben.“
The Greatest Discovery of a Lifetime
Host: So, is this a victory for anyone who wants to build a relationship with God or has already built one?
Narrator: Yes.
Host: And finally?
Narrator: To sum it all up: I’ve told you this so that I don’t selfishly keep the greatest discovery of my life to myself. It is solely thanks to God that I have come to understand that the purpose of my existence—and the existence of all of us on this earth—is to pass on this joyful and true message. God loves each of us infinitely and wants to become our most faithful and closest friend, our Savior. He wants to help us even in this life, to give us true and genuine dignity and freedom, and to be with us forever in that wonderful, promised future world without pain or suffering. Death is not the end of life for those who accept this truth. We believe that the Lord will come very soon—very soon indeed—for His faithful ones, for everyone who wishes to be with Him forever. Let us not put off our decision, but prepare ourselves for this encounter—the greatest event in the history of humanity, and indeed of the entire universe. Now we know how. So I bid you farewell and wish everyone, with all my heart, all the best from God’s loving hand.
