“Crown Him with Many Crowns”is one of the best-known English-language Christian hymns of the 19th century. The first verses were written in 1851 by Matthew Bridges; later, Godfrey Thring added further verses to the song. The hymn acquired its musical form—still familiar today—through the melody “Diademata” by the English composer and organist Sir George Job Elvey. Since then, the song has found its way into numerous Christian hymnals and is still sung today in many countries.
